If you’re looking for a simple, fun, and cute Thanksgiving craft for kids, these Thanksgiving Placemat crafts are just the thing!
Fitz made these last year with his cousins and they all loved making them together. Plus, they were so fun to use during our Thanksgiving meal and were great conversation starters!

How to make our Thanksgiving Placemat Craft
These were something I used to make with my 4th grade class years ago! They loved it and I knew Fitz and his cousins would too. In less than an hour, you can all have super cute, personal placemats for Thanksgiving.
Materials:
You know I love simple materials, and I guarantee you have these on hand: Construction paper, markers, and scissors is all you need!
Step by step:
First, fold a piece of construction paper in half and cut long slits. The picture above should help, but you just want to be sure not to cut all the way to the end. Then I took a bunch of other pretty colors and cut long strips. You can have your kids use the strips and weave them in the first piece of paper. Kids always love weaving activities and they get so focused!
Then the kids just had fun adding pictures and words to show things they are thankful for! This is a great activity for the little kids because even pictures and drawings work!
Why we love this Thanksgiving Placemat Craft
This activity is a great way to have conversations around being thankful. I challenged the kids to come up with something from different categories like: a friend, something you like to play, something outside, etc.
This Thanksgiving craft would also be a great way to entertain kids at the Thanksgiving kid table! You can have each kid weave them themselves, or you can even make them ahead of time and just lay out crayons or markers on the table.

I’d love to see if you make these placemats. After you make yours with the kids, tag me on Instagram and show me!
