It’s time for Cosette’s 9 month baby update! Every baby update on Coco makes me so emotional, and here we are getting so close to her first birthday. When you know it’s your last baby, there’s just something different about each milestone, am I right?

She was 7 months at our last update, so here are some shots of her at 8 months:
9 Month Baby Update
So much has happened the last couple of months with our family. In August, we were all gearing to head back to school, and just a couple of weeks in we all ended up getting sick with Covid.
We’ve all been homebound together for awhile. Poor little Coco ended up developing a double ear infection and she is still getting over that. Seeing her sick for the first time was so sad for me, but I’m thankful she’s now starting to bounce back.
I tried to snap some pics of her on a good day for her 9 month baby update, but she looks a bit under the weather in her photos! She is now back to her bright eyed little self, and I am thankful for that.
Eating
I’ve already shared how Cosette didn’t like food when we first tried at 6 months, and it really hasn’t gotten any better. At her 9 month doctor appointment, she also weighed in at the 3%. Our doctor recommended that we seek out the help from a physical therapist, and we have an appointment coming up soon.
The main issue is that she chokes, coughs, and spits out solid food. She loves to play with food and chew on it, but I just can’t get her to swallow it! I’m hoping the PT can give us some techniques to help her in this area.
Sleeping
Going back to school (for me, dad, and Fitz) has helped us get on a bit more of a routine. Coco is napping twice a day, and here is her typical daily schedule (all approximate times!) at 9 months:
7:30: Wake-up
10:30: Morning nap
3:00: Afternoon nap
7:30: Down for nighttime sleep.
She typically wakes up twice in the night: around 11pm, and then again around 5:30. I’m trying to get this 5:30 time pushed to at least 6am! Right now I’m not having any luck getting her to go back to sleep without feeding her both times.
New Skills
She is now a professional “scooter” and she gets around so quickly just pulling herself along with hands and dragging her legs. I don’t think she’s ever going to do the traditional crawl.
She’s pulling up all the time, but she doesn’t quite know how to get down, so we often hear her screeching for help when she’s stuck and wants down! It’s the cutest thing.
Coco says “Dada” all the time, occasionally says “Mmma”, and loves to play lap games and sing songs!
Favorite Things
Coco is getting to the age where she’s already outgrowing some baby things, like her baby bath seat , Bumbo chair, and the Boppy pillow. It’s so bittersweet passing these things on!
She loves her Lovevery play mat! It is so perfect for newborns, but it’s great for older babies as well. It’s definitely the longest lasting floor mat you will find, with such a variety of fun play areas for babies. The little “fort” makes such a fun play area. She loves the hanging toys and the different sounds on the flaps.
She’s starting to enjoy being read to more and really likes interactive books like THIS, THIS, and THIS. Yes, we are big Eric Carle fans! We’re praying she loves to read as much as Fitz does.
One of my favorite things about having a second baby is seeing both of my kids interact together. Somedays, I think she actually prefers Fitz over me! He sure gets her to laugh no matter what.
If you’ve got a little one at home too, what new things are they up to? Let me know in the comments below!
