Cosette’s 18 Month Update
Coco has changed so much between 12 months and 18 months old! It’s definitely that age where they seem to be doing something new every single day. Cosette had her first birthday party last November, and since then it’s been a whirlwind of fun, new words, new skills, and just getting to know her better!
Eating
Coco is eating like a champ. She finally grew out of the first percentile and into the second! The doctor was happy that she finally went a little upward on her growth chart, even though it was small.
Her favorite foods are fruit, raisins, and really any kind of crackers. She started wanted to feed herself and it makes a mess, but I know it’s good for her to practice so I let her go with it! If she’s having applesauce, yogurt, or cereal she wants to feed herself. Having a splat mat under her high chair helps with the mess on the floor!
She still loves her “ba-ba” and wants her milk in a bottle three times a day. She freaks out if you try to give her milk in a cup, but it’s a goal of ours so we keep trying it….send any tips my way if you can help us wean her off that darn bottle! Our favorite sippy cups are these 360 cups with handles you can easily grab on Amazon! So far, she just drinks water out of them.
Sleeping
She’s mostly sleeping all through the night fiiiinally! Occasionally, she will wake up and cry awhile in the middle of the night, but it’s mostly sleeping 11-12 hours. It’s so great! She naps from around 12:30-3:30 every day also. We have a flexible routine, so the exact times to nap and sleep can vary, but stay in the ballpark. Right now, it’s our summer break, so our family’s schedule is a bit later than usual.
New Skills
She finally started walking consistently around 15 months- she waited awhile just like her big brother! She’s acquired so many new words, I think she says around 30. She says “circle” (her own version, at least!) and can point to a picture of one, she says “gentle” and will gently pat us and loves to pet doggies too.
Favorite Things
She looooves reading books and putting them on and off a shelf. We got this white book shelf and toy bin because it’s perfect for her to easily reach to get her books and toys, and then put them back herself. She is learning how to pick up after herself!
Her Lovevery toys continue to be some of her favorite toys! They are so durable and pretty so I love them too. They make for the perfect toy rotations also. I save the boxes they come in so I can just pack one box up and get another to set out. She thinks they are new every time, ha! We get a new box every couple of months and they are curated for her specific age and development.
She still loves being with her “bro-bro” and doing absolutely anything that he’s doing. She is starting to enjoy coloring with crayons too, playing more with her dolly’s and watching shows. Minnie Mouse and Count Dracula are her favorite characters. She loves to count!
We love our little Cosette April. She keeps us on her toes and has such an infectious laugh. Her personality definitely lights up a room and we couldn’t love her more!
