These back to school picture books are a great way to get excited for a new school year!

Fitz is starting Kindergarten this year, so we went to our local library and grabbed some pictures books to start the conversation about what school will be like. Any young child can enjoy this list of books that are perfect for sharing together as a family.

1. The Night Before Kindergarten

A must read for a new little Kindergartner!

2. The Day You Begin

Such a sweet little story about being friends different people at school, and finding your similarities.

3. Monsters Love School

This one is so fun and Fitz thinks the monsters are so funny!

4. Marshall Armstrong is New to Our School

Another one celebrating the differences each student brings to the classoom.

5. Bonaparte Falls Apart

If your kiddo loves Halloween themed things (like Fitz does!), they’ll love this book about a skeleton’s first day of school.

6. Fairy’s First Day of School

First day of school as seen from a fairy’s perspective! This is one of my favorites on the list 🙂

7. The King of Kindergarten

Another great book if your little one is starting Kindergarten.

8. Butterflies on the First Day of School

Especially good for kiddos who are nervous for the start of school!

9. The Pigeon Has To Go To School

Because Mo Willems never disappoints. 🙂

10. Rulers of the Playground

A good one to talk about being kind and recess behavior.
