This building a maze STEM at home activity is quick and easy! You just need two things: square tiles and toy cars. I thought to do this with Fitz because he is currently obsessed with those little coloring/activity books with those little mazes. Then I remembered this idea from Teachers are Terrific that I did with Kindergartners in the classroom. We used pom-poms to work through the maze then, but I adjusted it a bit to work for my son at home.
This simple STEM activity kept Fitz engaged for close to an hour! He loves all things cars. He got a kick out of making the “dead ends” for the cars and they got “stuck” and had to go back to the beginning. 🙂 This is also a good activity for practicing working with someone else to accomplish a goal: great for collaboration skills!
